Annotation | Part of the former County of Clwyd, Flintshire was established as a unitary authority in 1996. The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution towards the further improvement of services provided. Currently, some people in Flintshire are well served, and prospects are promising. Examples of good practice include: its information strategy, particularly that run in conjunction with the North East Wales Carers' Information Service (NEWCIS); initiatives to speed up response times in the occupational therapy service; and the Domiciliary Care Brokerage Scheme, whereby existing staff can be deployed (the area has low unemployment, making recruitment difficult). Priorities for action identified by the review include: reviewing the means of getting access to services; improving the standard and consistency of assessment, care planning and reviewing; and using current examples of good practice to develop services to support more people to remain or become independent, participate in the community, and enjoy a better quality of life. The report is in English and Welsh. (RH). |
