AnnotationPrivate sheltered housing helps older people to engage with the local community and promotes independent living. However, there is a shortage of such housing in the UK. This report sets out the findings of a study of the opinions of some 1,500 current and prospective residents of private sheltered housing - their priorities, levels of independence, health, happiness and contribution to their local community and the wider economy. It presents the personal, economic and social cases for private sheltered housing, that ensure appropriate housing choice and a good quality of life. (RH).
