AnnotationAn annual series which was agreed by national and local government following the publication of "A new approach to social services performance: consultation document" in February 1999. The Performance Assessment Framework (PAF) is intended to be a set of indicators large enough to be comprehensive and small enough to be manageable, which should provide an overview of the performance of each council in England following the financial year (April to March) and to allow for comparison between them. The document contains commentary (rationale for each indicator, social services objective, and full definition) and summary data for each of the indicators. Coloured bar graphs illustrate the performance indicators of each council. The relevant indicators concerning older people will be indexed on each annual entry, eg. Older people helped to live at home. These indicators will be developed over time to ensure their relevance. From the sixth edition, the CSCI took on the responsibility for the Performance Assessment Framework Indicators and thereby producing these annual statistics. CD-ROM format of the performance indicators is also available. The 2007-08 indicators are the last that CSCI will produce and is only available online or as a CD-ROM. (KJ).
