Cash for carers | Author(s) | Alison Richards, Robert Tapsfield |
Journal title | Community Care, no 1501, 4 December 2003 |
Pages | pp 34-35 |
Keywords | Grandparents as carers ; Finance [care] ; Social security benefits. |
Annotation | Carers should be entitled to an allowance that reflects the cost of care, which should not be a discretionary payment but a state benefit. New research backs the case for the payment of carers who are the friends or family of a young person being cared for. The authors report on the recommendations in their report, "Funding family and friends care: the way forward", published by the Family Rights Group. Reference is also made to the Group's "Second time around" study (2001) on grandparents who are carers. (RH). |
