The coming of age of geriatric care | Author(s) | Gary Naglie, Michael Gordon |
Journal title | The Lancet, vol 346, Supplement I, December 1995 |
Pages | p s7 (Reviews 1995) |
Annotation | This brief article outlines the health needs of senior citizens and how progress has been made in the year under review, to meet these, namely heart disease, dementia, osteoporosis. To maximise quality of life is seen as the challenge and will involve minimising functional decline; to do this involves making better use of several interventions (e.g influenza vaccination, therapies for myocardial infarction) and to improve the dissemination and implementation of new knowledge as it develops. The authors are geriatricians from the Toronto Hospital, Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, Ontario, Canada. (KJ). |
