AnnotationThe Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) commissioned this report, following earlier studies which examined the characteristics and circumstances of poorer pensioners and the way in which Government is attempting to direct resources to those pensioners who are in most need. This report presents findings from research among pensioners apparently entitled to, but not claiming, the Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG). The research was based on a survey that followed up respondents in the DWP's Family Resources Survey (FRS). The report considers respondents' living standards, and in examining their experiences and views as claimants or non-claimants of the MIG, makes estimates of likely reactions to, and take up of, the Pensions Credit.
