Annotation | Carers UK successfully campaigned for carers' services to be included in the Community Care (Delayed Discharges etc) Act 2003. Section 15(1) of the Act states that qualifying services (which includes intermediate care) must be provided free of charge to the person to whom they are provided. This policy briefing draws attention to the regulations bringing Part II of the Act into force. Part I of the Act is anticipated to come largely into force in October 2003, under which many carers and older people could qualify for intermediate care services provided free, when a person they care for is discharged from hospital. The policy briefing also outlines how to find information locally and nationally. (RH). |
