Annotation | The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution towards the further improvement of the services provided. The review finds that most people in Cambridgeshire are well served by their social services, and that prospects for the future are promising. Examples of good practice identified by the review include: piloting a common assessment tool for the NSF for Older People Standard 2 (person centred care); user involvement in planning through a User Parliament (for people with learning disabilities); Safe in the Knowledge, an electronic database for monitoring standards for domiciliary care; and the "white van" home care service for home carers working in rural areas. Priorities for action identified by the review include: reducing user waiting times for assessment; making services more accessible to users; aiming for strategies that support integration with health; strengthening the commissioning framework and focusing on outcomes for users in planning services; and improving care management for older people.
