Depression in Parkinson's disease | Author(s) | Adwaita Ghosh |
Journal title | Geriatric Medicine, vol 33, no 8, August 2003 |
Pages | pp 23-27 |
Keywords | Depression ; Parkinson's disease. |
Annotation | Between 40% and 50% of all patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease are affected by co-existing depression. However, these psychiatric symptoms are often under-diagnosed and poorly treated. The author outlines the existing theories regarding disease pathophysiology, and states that while the aetiology remains unclear, there is a lack of clinical trials and thus evidence for best practice.
