AnnotationAlcohol use disorders in older people are common and associated with considerable morbidity. The ageing of populations worldwide means that the absolute numbers of older people with alcohol use disorders is on the increase, and health services need to improve their provision of age appropriate screening, treatment methods and services. The authors present a literature review based on a search of PubMed for research papers and review articles. They also suggest educational resources on the internet suitable for use by professionals or patients, and list key ongoing research studies. (RH).
