Annotation | "Charging for residential accommodation guide" (CRAG), was published in loose-leaf form since 1992 to 2004, issued under Section 7(1) of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 which requires local authorities to exercise social services functions under guidance of the Secretary of State for Health. It provides guidance on the procedures for charging adults placed in residential or nursing home care by local authorities, under the National Assistance Act 1948, and the National Assistance (Assessment of Resources) Regulations 1992. CRAG is updated annually (but can be more frequent) using amendments issued as part of a Local Authority Circular (LAC) which is catalogued separately and retained whilst still current. The LAC itself can have a number of annexes and attachments which should be read in conjunction with the revised CRAG pages. However printed or internet individually amended CRAG pages are no longer provided by the DH (the last being for amendment no 18), so the DH website should be accessed for the entire current version of CRAG which clearly shows the amended pages and this can be downloaded. Amendments to CRAG however, continue to be notified as a Local Authority Circular. (KJ/RH). |
