AnnotationUsing a revised version of the Chinese Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), this replication study measures the prevalence of depression and its related explanatory factors in a community sample of older Chinese Americans. One in five respondents was found to be depressed. Reliability and validity of the instrument support the applicability of the Chinese GDS in measuring depression in this population group. The practice implications of serving this community are also discussed. (KJ/RH).
