Annotation | New research looks at how carers from ethnic minorities view statutory services for family members with dementia. The article outlines the findings and methods used by Liz Forbat in her report, "Culturally situated accounts of care: exploring difficulties in family care for people with dementia" (School of Health and Social Welfare, the Open University, 2003). It discusses the use of personal accounts of south Asian and African-Caribbean carers, along with their responses to fictional situations, in identifying the types of responses that were helpful or unhelpful in their interactions with health and social services.
