AnnotationIn 1999, the Department of Health (DH) asked Help the Aged to convene an Older People's Reference Group, to advise on the development of the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF). The Group has since reconvened as Health and Older People (HOPe). This conference aimed to identify those health and care issues raised in HOPe's report, "Our future health", which are of particular concern to the older Chinese community. Issues included: home care; residential care; information; interpreting services; lifelong learning; ageism; delays in service provision; and transport. The steps that health and social services can take to better meet the needs of older Chinese people are outlined. (RH).
