AnnotationIndependent advocacy is needed so that older people can secure and exercise their rights and choices; ensure that their voices are heard when decisions are made concerning their care and quality of life; and to combat age discrimination and abuse. This report outlines workshops and presentations at the conference on themes including: advocacy and the pensioners' movement; the need for person-centred care; dementia care based on listening to people's needs; advocacy, abuse and adult protection; information, advice and advocacy services; and advocacy, accreditation and standards.
