Annotation | Derby became a unitary authority in 1997. The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution to the further improvement of services provided. The review finds that most people are well served, and the prospects for the future are promising. While services for older people such as rehabilitation are good, the home care service is noted as needing refocusing. Other examples of good practice identified by the Review include: 11 Arthur Court, an adapted flat supported by a multi-skilled team, which enables preparation for independent living; and the Tomlinson Court intermediate care project, an extra-care sheltered housing scheme run by Housing 21. Priorities for action include: drawing up a comprehensive older person strategy; and reviewing out-of-hours services. (RH). |
