Annotation"Homing in on housing" is a study of people's housing pathways in later life, with an emphasis on what influenced their housing decisions, how they perceived their housing situations and choices, and the consequences of decisions made. This report presents the findings of a 3-year study (2000-2003) funded by the Community Fund, with research undertaken by Lancaster University's Department of Applied Social Science and Counsel and Care. Older people were involved, as both consultants on the work of the team and, as researchers, conducting interviews with older people on their housing decisions. The views of nearly 1,000 older people (interviewees, respondents to questionnaires, panellists, housing story writers, and interviewers) are presented. The panels set up in 5 contrasting locations (Lancashire, Tyne and Wear, Leicester, Lambeth, and Weston-super-Mare) shared their understanding of the issues and examined and validated the findings.
