AnnotationOlder people have an interest in services concerned with the availability of clear, timely and relevant information, advice and advocacy. This study reports on a critical review of current practice in services designed to provide information about, and advocacy to, older people. The information is derived from a literature search, a search of local authorities' and voluntary organisations' websites, and three focus groups involving older people from four different local authorities: Salford, Manchester, Stockport and Trafford. Examples of good practice are highlighted, and recommendations are made accordingly. The findings indicate a strong need for older people to be involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of such services. (RH).
