What is a good death? | Author(s) | Richard Smith |
Journal title | British Medical Journal, vol 326, no 7408, 26 July 2003 |
Pages | whole issue |
Keywords | Death ; Dying ; Terminal care ; Attitude ; General practice. |
Annotation | This entire issue of the British Medical Journal is devoted to looking at what constitutes a good death. It would appear from the various articles that a good death will differ for each individual, as living an individual life does. Euthanasia is highlighted and pressure may increase to legalise this, as it becomes to be seen as a legitimate option by the baby boomers generation. The diagnosis of dying by the general practitioner (GP) is considered central to the debate of a good death. (KJ). |
