Annotation | Bridgend became a unitary authority in 1996, taking over responsibilities for functions previously managed by Mid Glamorgan County Council and Ogwr Borough Council. The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution towards the further improvement of the services provided. It finds that Bridgend is serving some people well. Users and carers expressed consistently high levels of satisfaction with most adult services: the Authority is progressively expanding the ways that it engages with users and carers to gain feedback on services provided. Among examples of good practice cited in the report is the re-ablement scheme for older people; this is a pilot scheme aimed at increasing the number of older people being discharged from hospital who are able to follow their preference for returning home. Priorities for action identified by the Review include focusing on the achievement of measurable outcomes whether in the strategic planning of services or in individual care plans. The report is in English and Welsh. (RH). |
