Annotation | The principles of person-centred care underlying dementia care mapping (DCM) and how these principles have influenced the use of DCM in various settings, are explained. The book is in four sections, the first of which discusses broad issues of theory and the reliability of the DCM method. Section 2 has examples of using DCM to improve care practice in Germany, for care planning purposes, or for staff development. Section 3 considers policy issues that are pertinent to implementing DCM in general, and in Australia and Hong Kong in particular. Finally, future uses of DCM are considered, for example their applicability to cognitive disability services, and updating the training manual developed by the Bradford Dementia Group. (RH). |
