Annotation | This issue of the Journal of Gerontological Social Work has also been published by the Haworth Social Work Press as an indexed monographic "separate". The first of its three sections consists of four articles which describe the growth and development of gerontological social work education, the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork, and strategies to increase student interest in gerontological social work practice. A common theme is that of an ageing society requiring an increased need for gerontological social workers, and the demands this places on social work education. Articles in Section II (on school based initiatives) and Section III (on class and field development programme models for practice) focus on a range of specific projects and programmes, designed to develop social workers for geriatric social work practice.
