Annotation | As women in developing countries move towards the menopause and beyond, they are at risk from symptoms associated with hormonal changes, heart disease and stroke, gynaecological malignancies, osteoporosis, and various genito-urinary conditions. The lifelong effects of sexual bias and low social status can also be burdensome for ageing women in developing countries. Local programmes of international agencies and organisations have taken the lead to deal with older women's health needs, which the rest of the global health community must follow. (RH). |
