Annotation | A dilemma faced by many older people is whether to stay put in the current home, or to move on to alternative accommodation. In order to make a fully informed choice, people need good housing advice. Local "housing options" services not only provide information, but also give support and practical help, if required, to enable a person to move home. This report outlines the role of Care & Repair England's "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" national programme, and provides an update on the development of local pilot projects. It examines the work of Bristol Care & Repair's "Move-On" Advisory Service, highlighting the views of both older people and professionals who have used the service. It also explores the potential contribution that such services could make in meeting the aims of housing, health and social care policies. (RH). |
