AnnotationFollowing media reports about the poor care of some older people in hospital, Help the Aged's response has been to set up the "Dignity on the Ward" campaign to improve their quality of life. The main objectives are to: ensure that the Government acts to improve the care of older people in hospital; to see that managers run their hospitals to the kind of standards older people expect; to promote good practice in the care of older people on the ward by NHS staff; and to enable older people to improve their situation if they run into problems in hospital. The Royal College of Nursing and the British Geriatrics Society are backing the campaign. This is the campaign leaflet with its seven action points that are aimed at the general public. (KJ).
