AnnotationThe objective of the Lloyds TSB Forum is to stimulate serious debate about a range of business, economic and social issues of national and international importance. The speaker, Professor Bob Fryer, was chosen as he was the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor of lifelong learning at a British university, and in his capacity as Chairman of the National Advisory Group for Continuing and Lifelong Learning. Lloyds TSB has a strong commitment to supporting continuous learning, and sees it as vital that lifelong learning should become the "norm beyond the years of formal education." This lecture was given in the light of the recent Government report "The Learning Age". Its emphasis was on the practical implementation of the vision and policy of lifelong learning. (KJ/RH).
