AnnotationThis document follows on from the 2002 Green Paper "Simplicity, security, and choice: working and saving for retirement" (Cm 5677), and the 800 responses submitted to the consultation. It makes a number of proposals on: improving protection for members of occupational pension schemes; making pension provision easier for employers; and giving people greater choice about flexible retirement. While the Government remains committed to maintaining the State Pension age at 65, it does not believe that the case for additional compulsion in other provision for retirement has yet been made. Other proposals include introducing a Pensions Protection Fund, and a new system of private pension regulation with a Pension Regulator. (RH).
