Annotation | Cognitive theorists, using information processing perspectives, have been working with clinical colleagues to produce cognitive models for various psychiatric disorders. Work has been done on the negative impact of distress on people's thinking patterns, their memory problem-solving abilities, and attributional styles (styles of thinking). This paper examines some of these features with respect to "stressful" work undertaken by staff in Elderly Mentally Ill (EMI) homes. This is the first of two articles, and provides a theoretical perspective. (RH). |
