AnnotationSpeaking Up For Our Age was launched by Help the Aged in 1998. It aims to ensure that the voices of older people are heard on matters that affect them, and to involve those whose voices are not often heard (those who are housebound, from ethnic minorities, or living in rural areas). This was the second national conference of this programme, which marked the growth of older people's forums throughout the UK and celebrated their vital role in providing a voice for older people in local and national decision-making. Workshop reports are on: Advocacy; Age discrimination; Involvement in Health; Residential and home care; Pensions and benefits take-up; Transport and Development of forums. The day was chaired by Tony Carter of the Senior Citizens' Forums Network. (KJ).
