Annotation | Moving and handling training is a requirement for all staff working with older people, but little attention is usually given to the particular additional problems posed by people with dementia. This is one of a series of guides on the theme of intimate caring skills, focusing on aspects of personal care that are part of the daily tasks of caring staff. It aims to provide an understanding of some of the reasons for difficulty with mobility experienced by people with dementia, and why they react in ways which can be difficult to understand when help is offered. While basic moving and handling training is assumed, the guide explores some ways of making the moving and handling process easier for everyone. (RH). |
