AnnotationAccessible public transport and the independence that comes with car driving are generally thought to be linked to quality of life in old age. This exploratory study by researchers from the University of Paisley and the University of East London used a multi-method approach to explore the relationship between quality of life and access to public and private transport. They also aimed to examine the attitudes and perceptions of older people (including baby boomers) to continued driving in old age and the barriers to the use of public transport. The extent to which older people's transport needs are taken into consideration by transport professionals was also investigated. (RH).
