AnnotationFor many years, researchers have been writing about and studying Canadian seniors who winter in, or retire to, the southern United States. Recently however, a trend has appeared for substantial numbers of Canadian seniors choosing Mexico as a seasonal or permanent migration destination. The author, a retired journalist living in Mexico, was invited to write this article looking at the reasons for moving and locations chosen by such seniors. It would appear that many choose to do so for the advantageous tax status they enjoy. The Canadian government has a website and publications urging older people the fullest consideration and taking of professional advice, before settling for permanent migration. (KJ/RH).
