AnnotationThis supplement issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society provides general practitioners (GPs) and other primary care provides information on the pathophysiology and current approach to the management of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other dementias. Evolving pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies are also discussed. Critical aspects of care are emphasised, such as the need for early diagnosis, and methods for enhancing the long-term benefits of treatment of patients with AD and other late-life dementias.
