AnnotationUndergraduates have difficulty understanding the normal sensory losses and changes in functional status experienced by virtually all older adults. To overcome this experiential problem, a classroom assignment, the ageing simulation exercise, was developed to engage students as active participants in their learning of what it geniunely means to "become older". Students are obliged to experience first-hand some of the many aches and pains, as well as sensory losses commonly associated with the ageing process. (KJ/RH).
