Annotation | Twelve forms of elder respect, ranging from care respect to celebratory respect, were measured using data from a questionnaire survey of 521 students. Of these forms of respect, six - acquiescent, care, linguistic, salutatory, consulting, and presentational respect - were frequently practised. The study provides insights as to how younger people in American culture exhibit elder respect. A typology of the forms signifying elder respect among young American adults is presented. (RH). |
