Annotation	The need for long-term care services will increase dramatically over the next 30 years, especially for services provided through home- and community-based alternatives to institutional care. This issue of Home Health Care Services Quarterly describes and helps to explain the success of an ageing service network based Alzheimer's Demonstration Program, which is an outstanding example of the kind of community-based service care in the US that will be needed more than ever. This US Administration on Aging (AoA) program clearly indicates that respite services such as adult care can be designed to meet the culturally shaped needs of older people with dementia from different ethnic groups, and can give caregivers the kind of support required to make a positive difference to their quality of life.
