Annotation | 244 Americans aged 60 to 81 living in a popular retirement area of Texas completed self-report surveys in this study examining the relationship of regular physical activity involvement with a range of psychosocial variables. Discriminant analysis revealed that a higher level of education, religious well-being, and perceived health distinguished regular activity participants from non-regular. Results suggest interventions designed to promote physical activity in high-functioning older people focus on educational strategies emphasising the health benefits of exercise with the inclusion of spiritual wellness aspects.
