Using space intelligently | Author(s) | Jef Smith |
Journal title | Croner Care Home Manager special report, issue no 42, April 2003 |
Pages | pp 1-8 |
Keywords | Care homes ; Nursing homes ; Space needs ; Standards of provision. |
Annotation | Residential or nursing homes with space problems, or indeed any home seeking to provide residents with a more spacious environment, should consider whether small sized rooms will continue to attract new residents. The author suggests ways in which homes can give residents - even those in small rooms - a sense of spaciousness. Use of communal space (for example sitting and dining rooms, gardens and conservatories) should be a way of compensating for small sized individual rooms. The author offers a checklist. (RH). |
