Annotation | Some have claimed that the National Service Framework for older people (NSF) has been patchy at best. Others describe a steady start for a programme lacking financial investment. The Department of Health (DH) is to launch a report, "Older people's National Service Framework: progress and future challenges". This article reports on how interested individuals and organisations assess the NSF's progress to date. While joint working in some areas between NHS organisations and local government has produced results, finance continues to be a problem; and older people's "champions" do not have any specific powers relating to their roles and responsibilities.
