Making up for lost times [the needs of people with dementia] | Author(s) | Ruth Winchester |
Journal title | Community Care, no 1470, 1 May 2003 |
Pages | pp 32-34 |
Keywords | Dementia ; Therapeutics ; Finance [care]. |
Annotation | Changes are at last on the way for people with dementia, for whom treatment for their symptoms is only just becoming available. Although the author finds hope for those who need to access to treatment, the costs of long-term care could be huge with consequent uncertainty for sufferers. Reference is made to rulings by the Health Services Ombudsman, who has found that health authorities and trusts have been misinterpreting the Department of Health (DH) guidance on funding continuing care.
