AnnotationThe purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution towards the further improvement of the service provided. Worcestershire Social Services is currently only serving some people well, but prospects for improvement are excellent. There have been difficulties in managing effective discharge from hospital, leading to difficulties in helping vulnerable people to live at home. Examples of good practice include: carer-focused projects such as Care Line Support, and Care WISE (Worcestershire Information Support and Education Service); the Worcestershire Prevention Strategy (to promote independence and reduce dependency); the Supporting People Strategy, which seeks to increase provision of various forms of sheltered housing; and a Joint User Involvement and Participation Policy. Priorities for action include: shifting services to better support independence; investing more in family and carer support; ensuring consistency and equity within and across service provision; and enhancing the potential of partnership working.
