Annotation | This Government Bill amends the law about the National Health Service (in essence, it proposes establishment of NHS "foundation trusts"). The Bill makes provision about the quality and standards in the provision of health and social care, including provision establishing the Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection (CHAI) and the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI). It amends the law about the recovery of NHS costs from persons making compensation payments; provides for the replacement of the Welfare Food Schemes; and makes provision about appointments to health and social care bodies. Part 4 of the Bill concerns dental services. Explanatory notes to the Bill, prepared by the Department of Health (DH), will be published separately as Bill 70-EN. (RH). |
