AnnotationThis Private Members' Bill is to amend the law relating to the provision of retirement income in respect of private and personal pensions, annuities and defined and additional voluntary contribution pension schemes. If enacted, this Private Members Bill amends the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 sections 633 (scope of benefits) and section 634 (annuity to member); repeals sections 634A and 636A; and adds a further section, 637B (Retirement Income Fund). The Bill also states that the amount of the Minimum Retirement Income shall be set for each financial year by the Chancellor of the Exchequer by order before 31st January in the preceding financial year. The Bill was dropped after it reached Standing Committee C on 2 July 2003. (RH).
