Annotation | This issue of the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry has as its title, "Issues and challenges in long term care - an international perspective". This editorial introduces the eight articles, which provide important insights on key policy issues, such as the nature of care provided, interventions to ensure that people are appropriately placed, provision of adequate care, funding of long-term care and the impact of this on practice and the kind of care provided. The issues question the right mix of care environments between community and institutionally based modes of care. (RH). |
