Commentary: a "good death" is possible in the NHS
Author(s)Julia Neuberger

AnnotationAlthough hospices are "fashionable", caring for a dying person is still discussed relatively little in the UK. The author supports John Ellershaw and Chris Ward, and their plea for the best care to be available for everyone - not just for cancer patients or those in the care of a specialist palliative care team. She recalls the experiences of her parents' deaths, both at home, and the quality of care which they received. It should also be possible to provide a "good death" for other people. (RH).
