AnnotationDespite being serious and common, delirium is often poorly understood or even not recognised at all. Delirium presents in all health care settings, is managed by clinicians from a variety of specialties, and requires management of both physical and psychiatric symptoms. This review focuses on older people in whom delirium is more common, and who are also more likely to suffer ill effects from psychotropic drugs. The aim is to increase understanding of delirium with respect to the recognition and treatment of its symptoms. (RH).
