AnnotationAt a time of increasing interest in the sustainability of rural life, the author explores some new ideas about ageing and rural contexts in the UK. The article draws attention to the importance of place and geography in nursing older people. Although growing old in the countryside is a widespread global phenomenon, there is little available on the the rural dimension with regard to community care and living at home. In societies such as the UK, rural life has an impact on people's support networks, the accessibility of health care, and the cost and availability of services. (RH).
