Annotation | This article is an attempt to present some of the historical and political contexts of older women in general, and to communicate pieces of the lives of African American older women in particular. It presents some of the present-day distortions as well as a sense of the historical, economic and political realities of older African American lives, while trying to limit the use of the usual comparison approach to this topic.
