AnnotationFollowing on from "The implications of an ageing population for the FSA", this report sets out the key findings and proposed actions arising from work on that theme. The focus is on areas of potential risk and opportunity for both providers and consumers of financial services. A number of key recommendations are made for stakeholders arising from issues connected with accumulating wealth (e.g. patterns of savings, barriers to saving), and with decumulation products, particularly issues arising from innovations in the annuities, income withdrawal and lifetime mortgage markets. The report also focuses on possible gaps in work, where the FSA's resources or interventions may be required to help ensure that consumers and financial services providers are preparing for an ageing population.
