Annotation | Older people are entitled to effective and efficient health services that promote health and minimise disability in late life. This document describes the British Geriatrics Society's recommendations for standards of care for older people and those with whom they work. The standards relate to: eliminating age discrimination; person-centred care; non-acute care; acute assessment and general hospital care; specialist services for stroke and falls; mental health services; health promotion and preventative health care; medicines; and palliative care. Reference is also made to the National Service Frameworks (NSF) in England, and similar initiatives in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. (RH). |
